“Mentoring is a brain to pick, an ear to listen, and a push in the right direction” – JOHN C. CROSBY. Don’t allow the rivalry from school days or the negative turn of events in your circumstances prevent you from seeking mentors even from within the alumni group. Success is not a respecter of age, so let’s be willing to reach out and learn something from those already doing great things.
All for one and one for all. It’s great to have people you can share those special occasions with – the good times and the sad days. For those we are too introverted to make many friends, you can always count on your alumni folks to give you that backing the need arises. It’s also great when it is you being there for others.
How many times have you felt like asking a simple question that only a professional can answer confidently?. Is there a doctor, a lawyer, an accountant, fashion designer, or a media professional in your group? Maybe a farmer, event planner, law enforcement officer or childcare expert?. Take advantage of free quality advice from great minds in your group. They are sometimes the quietest to go to the extra mile.
Yeah, you have that great business idea but not sure how to go about it?, it may be wise to bounce it off some of the successful entrepreneurs around you. Besides getting your ideas fine-tuned, you might just get a partner or two with complementary skills and experience.
Who doesn’t want a group of people who can try out our new products or services and give us honest feedback and useful referrals? Ask your alumni members to post something nice about your products on your website or theirs. Many will do it even without trying out that product. You may publish a book and a well-known member writes the forward, or you release that short clip and you are guaranteed 100 likes on social media.
Nobody loves hangouts like alumni. Create your own holidays and make time for a relaxing meet-up with your old school mates. Laugh again about your experiences growing up and appreciate how far you all have come. It’s a fantastic way ton unwind in this ever-busy world of ours. Find time to share the old sweet memories with your colleagues.
As-salaamu alaykum Warahmotullahi Wabarakaatuhu dear brethren,
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. May His choicest blessings continue to be with the soul of our leader and teacher, Muhammad ibn Abdullah (SAW), his household, companions and the generality of Muslims till the day of Accounting (Amin).
Alhamdulillah! MAPAMA is not just in existence but has been growing and developing in leaps and bounds. The brand has come to stay and fulfilling her responsibilities to not just the members but the Nigeria society as a whole.
This regime came in with great expectations from members, partners and friends of MAPAMA on her continuous improvement in her activities and opening of other frontiers to help project MAPAMA name in the minds of people. I’m pleased to state that the past three years have witnessed great improvement in members participation and commitments. It’s my hope that this momentum shall be improved upon to the benefits of all of us.
I pray Allah continues to guide and guard us. May He continue to strengthen our brotherhood.
On behalf of the National Executive Council. I thank all our members.
Wa alaykumu salaam Warahmotullah Wabarakaatuhu
As an icon, a great leader, Alhaji Kadiri never stops at taking people to where they want to be. He takes people where they don’t necessarily want to go, but where they ought to be. He is never satisfied with giving fish to people to eat, rather prefers to teach people how to fish. With this, he had made many leaders out of his followers. So many of these followers have turned leaders in different sectors.
The Former Rector of Moshood Abiola Polytechnics Abeokuta (MAPOLY), Alhaji Waheed Ayinla Kadiri – WAK, as he is fondly addressed by his admirers is a man blessed with astounding qualities. He is a bundle of knowledge, a blunt, assertive and very consistent personality and professional.
To say the obvious, I feel obligated first, to serve (our umbrella organization, MAPAMA), but to be honest, ultimately to give back via my professional calling, to this wonderful, consistent and unassuming teacher, father, leader and friend of all – Alhaji Kadiri
The Alhaji Kadiri I know is an institution, learning centre and an unregistered citadel who admits and offers priceless and unlimited opportunity to whoever can identify and tap from his privileges and the opportunities he offers. The amazing part of him is that he does all these willingly!. Alhaji Kadiri is a mirror to those who choose the path of success devoid of any ambiguity.
